Phone conversation with a Guy

In today’s scenario it is good to speak to a guy on the phone first and then if you are comfortable then the next step is meeting personally. Hence never say NO to a guy if he wants to speak to you first on the phone and then take things forward. Probably he is the right person you are looking for because he is ready to communicate and share ideas with you.

Be on time & well prepared for the call. Select a nice & comfortable place to sit. It may be a couch in your bedroom or a nice cozy corner of your house where no one can disturb you.  Avoid open and public places as there will be a lot of disturbance and noise. It would be good if you are alone for the call as this will help you to focus on the call. It will be better to use hands free on your mobile so that you can move around freely while talking. Also ensure that your mobile has maximum network coverage & the voice is clear.

Be simple & genuine in your conversation. Speak in the language which is most comfortable to both of you. Don’t be shy to speak or else the whole idea of call will be lost. You need to be open & truthful in your conversation as any false claims can lead to misunderstandings later on. The intention of this call should be to judge his basic nature & compatibility.

Usually the guy will start the conversation; in case he is unable to start, you can start  by asking any generic questions for eg: you can ask about nature of his work, work timings, designation, hobbies, favorite pastime, etc. While you ask questions keep in mind the attributes of  the guy you want. Once you are well into the conversation then you can ask about alcohol, smoking, his views on working wife or housewife, details about his family & their expectations, major family commitments, etc. The more sensitive discussions & other details can be sorted if you both decide to move ahead to the next step i.e. meeting personally. You also need to be prepared to answer his questions on cooking, joint family or nuclear family, educational details, career goals, etc.

Another important thing which you should know is the career goal & future plans of the guy. You can indirectly shift the conversation to this topic and ensure that he speaks on his own on this topic rather than you asking too many questions. This will help you to understand that whether the guy meets your basic expectation & you can also judge his priorities & commitments.

Never use vulgar, rude or offensive language. Be careful not to offend his relatives or parents or culture. Do not start an argument if you disagree with him on any particular topic or opinion.we4q3

It is better to limit the first call to a maximum of 60 mins; you can have a next call later. Try to conclude with some concrete next step, for eg:  “you discuss with your family and I’ll discuss with my family & then we can decide the way forward” or you can decide the next call timing.  Never commit anything on your first call as speaking to him on phone and meeting personally might be a different experience.

You will always cherish the moments of this first call; so enjoy & a happy soul mate searching…..
